Ola Herman

After completing my BSc degree in Neuroscience at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland, I moved on to the University of Gdansk to do my MSc, where I studied the neural mechanisms underlying appetitive behaviours in animal models. Following this, I pursued the Sussex Neuroscience 4-year PhD Programme, working with Prof. Theodora Duka and Prof. Hugo Critchley to investigate the factors that drive impulsive behaviour. I have recently joined the Lab of Action and Body to research the relationship between interoception and sense of self as well as sense of agency.

Research Interests

I am primarily interested in how bodily cues impact our actions and decisions and what the mechanisms underlying these processes are. To study this I employ behavioural measures, mood state and pharmacological manipulations, as well as neuroimaging techniques.
