We are primarily interested in how our brain uses the information we perceive through the senses to create our sense of self, and the main focus of our research is to empirically identify the basic neurocognitive principles governing the sense of self.

Our research is inter-disciplinary and cross-disciplinary, based on neuroscientific and psychological experimental paradigms as well as on philosophical and cultural approaches to selfhood.

In our experiments we ask how our sense of self is influenced, among other things, by the way we integrate information from different senses, our awareness of internal states of the body, our relationships with others, and the social, cultural and political context within which we experience the human condition.
